Essentially, a tech pack kit is a “recipe or instruction” for making a garment. Incorrect instructions can lead to poor results in clothing samples and clothing bulk production. Therefore, every piece of clothing that is sampled or mass-produced for a fashion brand must have a strong Tech Pack.
Different ways to develop tech pack
In the fashion industry, there are two main ways to develop tech bags, and while most tech bags are very similar, there is one method that is more effective and produces better clothing.
Standard technology package development process:
The standard process most companies use is that you send a rough model (basically showing what you want) to clothing manufacturer, who then make a tech pack based on what they think you want. In doing so, you have to send emails back and forth, and there is not enough explanation. Making sure the tech pack accurately reflects your vision for the clothing is (to put it mildly) one of the big email challenges.
The process of developing the best tech pack:
The second process is to make the tech pack at a live meeting between you and the tech pack designer. This way, every detail of the tech pack can be discussed with you and fully explained. This also makes the tech pack more precise and perfectly tailored to your needs, creating samples that match your vision. Remember, the tech pack is the secret to making a costume. How much will it cost to design a tech pack in 2024?
The price of fashion tech bags varies greatly, and there are several factors that affect the price. These factors include the complexity of the garment, the level of detail and the experience of the tech bag designer.
For fairly simple garments and small batches of garments using experienced designers, tech packs range in price from $200 to $500. For more sophisticated tech bags, prices can reach $900 and sometimes even higher. The average price across the fashion industry is $250 per tech bag.
How to get the best tech bag at a cheap price?
At HUILIN, the technical package is not only much better than the industry standard, but also very low priced.
Unlike most companies, we charge by the hour, not by the technology package. The more complex the technical package, the longer it takes and the higher the price, but if you have a good understanding of your requirements and have rough models, reference images, and graphics in vector format (learn more about vector formats here), the average time to prepare the technical package is 1 hour. Each technology pack costs only $94 including VAT. This equates to $94 (including VAT) per technical kit (prices are as of December 2023).
The minimum time to produce a technical package and design is 2 hours (minimum 2 designs). At an average of $94 per tech pack, it’s very cheap, but you have to ask, how do you do it? We simply pre-design a database of over 80 different technical materials and then tailor it to your needs during the conference. This saved us a lot of time and produced great results. If you need something we don’t already have, we simply develop it from scratch and then attend a meeting with you. You can get more value out of the course simply by doing your homework.

Here are some tips for making a great fashion tech kit. In our technical packages and design courses, we will discuss and guide you through all (and more) of the following questions
1.Fabric/color selection
There are many fabrics to choose from and it is important to include this information in your clothing technology package. 2.Brand/style details

Brand name – This will help the production staff easily identify your order.
Country of delivery – Whether it is sample or mass production, this is very important because the delivery address can greatly affect the cost.
SKU Code – This is the only code associated with the personalized style.
Style name – helps customers and production teams easily identify styles and often shows the overall fit of the garment.
This information is important because good clothing manufacturers use hundreds of styles simultaneously to prevent confusion between different designs/brands. This information also includes the sample size required for each design and the total number of pieces required for mass production (this information is very important for pricing).

3. Design considerations
There are many different ways to finish a garment, and this should be clearly stated in the technical kit. This information can be very technical and will be presented in technical packages and design sessions.
4.Template Description
The garment pattern is essentially the digital blueprint of the garment, which can precisely control the fit of the garment. Some tech package companies only provide a list of dimensions instead of a sample, but this is not a good idea because you have to guess between the measurement points (which is why we stick with an all-digital sample).

5.Graphics application/size/color.
Another important piece of information in the tech kit is how to apply graphics to clothing. This can be screen printing, embroidery, badges or labels. In meetings with designers, we always discuss and explain the best way to apply patterns.
We also resize and create special graphics codes to ensure that the correct graphics are always used.
6.Shape/structure reference picture
A really good tech bag gives us a clear idea of what the costume should look like. We always add reference pictures in order to try on and visualize the type of fit we want.
Benefits of creating a technical package with the help of an experienced designer
